the day after 060606
well i guess we're all still alive and living now that its already past 060606. congrats!
to mark this occasion, i got a call fr my boss cos he needed some work done urgently. =0p well, it was ok, cos he was nice abt it and there wasn't any of that ordering around or anything n cos he bothered to explain why he needed the work done. think overall he's a great boss..but something he said today made me think..he said tat he could see tat my work was being hampered, and tat i had the potential to do so much more etc etc, but i was quite touched cos he actually was thinking of relooking thru our work processes and seeing how to empower me.
sounds good? yeah..it does sound good. but u see, the blocks and obstacles don't really occur at this end only. empower me all they want, but at the end of the day, wats impt is tat everyone makes a conscious effort to focus on our goal, be less indecisive and jus move towards that goal. but if there are so many other factors 'hampering' me, then i guess it would take much more before i can truly perform. factors like my own inability to perform, mistakes i make, screw ups etc etc etc the list continues. i can only do my best. i can only do so much.
guess in a way, i've got lots going here. potential wise i mean. i know there's lots of potential here. and i've known this since the day i joined this company. i mean, how many people my age get to develop expensive skincare ranges for myself, or slimming products i can get to use? how many people get to work with great colleagues? how many people get to work in a politics-free environment? how many bosses actually tell you that you can go into any field you feel you want to go into as long as the company has the means to support your move? and of course, how many people live 6 mins from the office? hahha
the potential is there, yes, but before it is fulfilled, it will always remain a potential, yet to see the day of light. maybe its the way we have been doing things here, that have fostered a certain sort of 'culture', which in a way demotivates you. i can't really pinpoint wat's going on, i sure hope i figure it out soon. i guess, as with most things, its the small things that matter most. its like, you may be given ownership of something, but at the end of the day, this ownership is taken away from you, and you're just left feeling really lost.
yep. lost. thats the word for it. don't know where you are, don't know where you're headed. at the end of the day, u question yourself, and wonder wat the heck u've actually done for the company. and when you tell yourself 'not much'... then... its kinda demoralising, and upsetting. cos u really want the company to succeed, and you want to help contribute to its success.
but yeah well, i've got bigger responsibilities now..what with coordinating products with both the boss and the Big boss. i just hope.. i live up to their expectations..
