love is selfish

love is selfish
you always want the best for the other person
it may not be the best as they know it
it may not be the best as they want it
but it is the best as you know it
it is the best as you think they need

love is selfish
you think of how you can make it better for the other person
everything revolves around the other person
no one else matters
yet everyone interferes

love is selfish
but it leads to unselfishness
it is because you are selfish in love
that makes you do the most selfless acts
like the mother who protected her child from the oncoming car
like the husband who punched his wife's abusive ex
like the lil boy who was mean to the girl who bullied his sister

who is to categorise their acts of love?
because love made them do things,
they thought were best for the one they loved.
in the end, the mother held her child so tightly the child suffocated
in the end, the wife left the husband for the ex
in the end, the best intentions were labelled selfish.
never to be recognised for their true intentions.

who is to say what u shld do in love?
no one, i'm afraid.
who is to define if love shld be patient, kind, giving?
love is as you define it
it never makes sense
yet, it makes perfect sense
