parents have such a great impact on their kids. i wonder how many of them actually realise their behaviour, actions, words affect their kids. its really no wonder the kids start to ignore, turn a deaf ear or start rebelling against it.

yes, for our own good. yes, you know best. yes you've eaten more salt than i have eaten rice. yes, you know me best. yes, you want to protect me. yes yes yes.

well watever.

a secure child needs to grow up in a secure environment, and probably tat needs parents who are secure to build it. but not many parents are secure, probably cos their own parents werent. so the cycle continues, until such a time, the insecurity cycle as i call it is broken by 2 (or maybe just 1?who noes..single parenting seems to be in these days) parents.

are modern day parents better than the traditional ones? cos they are more aware and dont really have the i'm-your-parent-u'd-better-listen-to-me-and-only-me thinking? these parents seem to be more of friends than parents. and somehow it seems to suit the kids fine. whoever defined a parent as thus? in the rest of the animal kinddom, parenting seems more of a mentoring process. but in us humans, the 'control freak' kicks in so much stronger. parenting seems to mean 'controlling' and 'planning' instead of 'guiding' and 'moulding'. perhaps a wrong choice of words, but you get the gist.

one last thought: why are we always so much less mindful of the feelings of those closest to us? cos we are more worried abt how strangers look at us? but why? shldnt wat those closest to us matter most?

*shrug* no idea.

anyways i finally updated the food blog. heheh after such a long hiatus. hehhe.
