cant concentrate on work. the eyes are strained and small cos i keep sneezing, my nose feels raw and painful cos i keep blowing my nose.

counting down to 6.. wat an impossibly long wait =0(

so. instead of dwelling on unpleasant things, lets go towards the light a lil.

anyways, the bbq went off fantastic, i took much less time to prepare the food than expected, so i had tons of help actually with nothing to do cept waiting ard for me to boss them around which i din really need to do cos everyone sorta jus nicely assumed their roles =0)) tats wat i love about the fags (extended and including ma and jie) ^^

minor grievances and peeves aside (mental note: scold chicken uncle for promising to debone the chicken and then not doing it!), almost all the food was gone (for once no leftovers)

we had a rather exotic menu this round, duno why we sorta drifted towards the ang moh side, rather than the usual wings and satay bbq.

- mango orange vodka for drinks (couldnt make more cos we ran out of vodka)
- tl's pasta with sundried tomatoes (ok this was a failure cos i bought the wrong sort of pasta. we spent like a good half hr pondering wat was wrong. lesson learnt - do NOT use high fibre pasta for pasta salad. still, i love the pine nut and tomato combi, and the pasta was still all gone by the end of it!)
- quesadillas & nachos with guacamole and salsa patiently prepared by tj&car which i thought was absolutely yums (and so healthy somemore!)
- moroccan chicken (mished and mashed and massaged by mich, which i liked too but i tot had too indian-y a taste)
- lemon chicken (also mished mashed by mich, recipe courtesy of ethan which was good too)
- korean pork neck skewers (recipe from ethan's korean supplier. talk about authenticity! oh so fatty but oh so good)
- salmon and pineapple skewers (which i tot was a total failure cos the uncle cut the salmon up too thinly. but nmind, omega 3 for good brain and skin!)
- grilled vege skewers (controversial, but i liked it)
- bacon-asparagus skewers (thanks to mich's and jamie's arm strength we got to eat these really yummy bits on sticks)
- bacon lime prawns (this was painful, the de shelling and de veining nearly killed us, but loved these too)
- jellyheart cheesecake thanks to lyn&max. totally pretty, and red enough worthy of a national day party!

something came thru the email today.

Dear Shuyun,

How are you? Remember me? I'm Violy, one of the Cericos family you met here in Antipolo, Philippines. I was looking at the picture you sent me and it reminded me of the happy moments we all shared together during your visit here in our place. Hope to hear from you.

Take care!

Love,
Violy

i remember her.. met her in 2006 at her home with the rest of the cericos, a group of handicapped young adults housed by Papa Cerico, sponsored by our company. its not some big charity organisation, but i tot it was meaninful..cos these kids (when they were adopted) were basically social outcasts, abandoned by their parents, thrown into institutions who abused them..taking advantage of their disability. violy.. was one of the lucky ones, wheelchair bound but teaching to earn her keep at the cericos. sent her this pic after i got back fr phil..

i hope i brought a smile to her, cos she definitely made me smile today.
