answer.
this is sorta a response to ur qn, kel, on why i am/will celebrate xmas.
its been something i've been tinking about, wat with everything's tts been happening ard us.
i'm celebrating xmas cos i'm celebrating life, and i'm thankful for what life brings each and every sunrise, sunset.
i'm celebrating and giving thanks for the fact that i'm alive, that i'm in a safe environment, tat i've got a nice home to go home to, porridge and soup to drink (and pretty nasty tasting voice recovering herbal brew eww), for hot water and electricity, for having a choice in what i eat or drink, or wat i buy.
i'm celebrating and giving thanks this christmas not because of jesus christ, but because of the numerous sacrifices ppl go thru each day for the sake of others. small things, like how my mom isnt going on her holiday to save for med sch, for friends who compromise here and there for my benefit, for family who put up with inconveniences and willingly help me out when i need, for strangers who dont know me but help me pick up things i've dropped, or tell me to skip the green tea frapp and have water instead, small things here and there we hardly notice, and subsequently dismiss.
i'm celebrating because i'm grateful for the good and bad that has happened, cos after all that, i'm still relatively unscathed. brushing the fights, disagreements, drifting apart, unhappiness (and acne! bah!) aside after hopefully learning their lessons, i have had so many memorable moments this year. i dont remember all offhand, save for the fantastic bdae surprises i had, trips i've gone on, breakfast at my doorstep in the morning, reacquainting with old friends, ppl offering to help me with my studies, pirating songs, the concern ppl show when i'm upset, the laughs we share over silly things, even 'scolding' me when i wanted to give up studying, oh too many here to capture.
i'm celebrating life, cos we take it for granted even tho it is the most fragile thing we own. tat ma's ma is doing a-okay, xavier's outta the hosp, may's bubba is growing bigger and healthier everyday, ppl ard me are safe and healthy, tat in my life, i have choices i can make, tat i have opportunities to grab hold of.
this is why i celebrate xmas. to relish in all my daily presents, and do my bit in sharing these gifts with everyone else.
